John Mackie
Acoustic Bass

Born in Auckland, John played bass with various bands around New Zealand.

Since moving to Sydney in 1981, he has worked with various jazz groups and participated in many events around Sydney, including the Esso Jazz Festival with Merv Atcheson and Don Burrows.

John has worked with the Tom Baker Swing Street Orchestra, Brad Child's Big Band, Ian Date, Ian Cooper, Delilah, Bobby Gebert, Trudy Aspeling and Marty Mooney.

Currently he is performing with the Yuki Kumagai Band and Jump 'N' Jive, as well as at Sydney's Sheraton on the Park Hotel
