The TAITO Robot - Guitar

At the World Expo 1988 in Brisbane Australia I saw and heard this startling device. Built by Taito and featuring a Kohno guitar, it ran on compressed air and sounded great!

Obviously programmed by a knowledgeable guitarist, it had a repertoire of several hundred standard classical pieces and popular jazz and latin standards.

I observed it closely for a couple of hours and paid particular attention to the "Right Hand" technique. By attacking the strings at an angle it produced a good strong tone. I figured that a human player ought to be able to produce at the very least this strength of tone, with the added advantage of being able to vary the timbre.
