John Williams - Bach - BWV 1006a, Gavotte en RondeauMy comments:1970s. About the time Williams released the double album of these pieces.Pay attention to the superlative trills. Note the eveness and tone quality. Then observe which fingers he is using... In general, in string playing, you try and use the stronger (more independent) fingers to trill - that would be fingers 1 and 2 on the left hand, as a simple example. There are many trills in this piece where Williams uses the 4th and 3rd, and 4th and 2nd fingers, as a chord is held down. The excellent camera work allows us to watch a virtual masterclass in trilliing! |
